Ergomo Pro/Spin
So our original plan was to do 3 crits, take a day off, and then do 3 more. But since we're here, we decided to do the RR scheduled for today. It's funny, their course profile goes from 0-250 feet. Our start was delayed by 45 minutes. 8 laps for 70 miles, small kicker at the finish. You can do the entire course in your big ring with an 11-23. Nothing was getting away early on and after a while it seemed as if everybody just got weak and tired and didn't want to work anymore. On the 6th lap, there was a string of small attacks that started picking things up. I was feeling good and at the front. I lead into one of the turns and just kept pedaling hard after it. One rider was with me. I looked back and we had about 100 yards. I told him and we decided to go and see what happened. The gap continued to grow. There was one rider up the road just a little and we were bringing him back, and at the same time, another rider just bridged across. That's when the rear wheel started feeling soft. I looked down and it was half way flat. Crap. Bad timing. I couldn't maintain my speed to stay with the group and they were gone. The pack came by 30 seconds later, and the wheel car 30 seconds behind them. It was a slow wheel change. By the time I got going and up to the top of the hill, the peloton was out of sight. I chased for the next lap, but never saw them again. So I decided this was a good time to go watch the finish. It was a bummer to see that the break stuck it, 4 riders total. 2 more trickled in. Then the field sprint, which Patrick took by half a bike and Eric came in 16th. There were about 60 starters and 35 finishers. I feel good still, so we'll see how tomorrow goes.
